Archaeological site Brunssum - medieval fortification

Hidden within Schutterspark lies one of Brunssum’s biggest archaeological mysteries: the medieval Landwehr. This impressive earthwork is believed to date back to the 15th century. A section of the moat, with embankments on both sides, is up to 22 meters wide in some places – and still puzzles archaeologists today.
